Tech Cyte offers a wide variety of software at educational prices for ISU students, faculty & staff, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, and more! If you're looking for something that's not listed, just let us know and we'll see if we can special order it for you. Note: Student software that is purchased at Tech Cyte is eligible to be purchased with your U-Bill. When you purchase through one of the download sites below, you must purchase with a credit card.

Office 365 ProPlus for Students

Office 365 ProPlus for Students is a FREE add-on for Office 365 that the university has access to as part of the Student Advantage program. Students can log in to Office 365, see their ProPlus license, and download the latest version of Office for free. Office 365 will work on Windows, Mac, and mobile devices. Requires an active ISU email address.

While free to all registered Iowa State students, the benefits of the ProPlus program will be severed when an individual leaves the university. The software will continue to function in a read only mode until the user opts to purchase a license or personal subscription. Should a new version of Office come out when the user is still a student, upgrading to that version will be free.

Please note: If you are in Computer Science 103 and you are a Mac user, you do not need to install Windows and the Windows version of Office on your computer.

Electronic Software Downloads (ESD)

ESD is a website partnership with The Douglas Stewart Company to provide direct download access to select educationally priced software. You can browse the library of software available here on our ESD Website.

 

ESD Ordering Instructions:

  1. Add the selected software to the cart and enter your email address and name to transfer your cart to the bookstore for payment. You will receive an on-screen confirmation number as well as an email with this information.
  2. Bring this confirmation number to the ISU Book Store Tech Cyte department (1150 Memorial Union) to complete your purchase or reference this number on an intramural/department order request emailed to techcyteorder@iastate.edu. If you cannot come to the store during store hours, please give us a call to process your payment over the phone - 515-294-8357.
  3. Once your payment has been completed, your order will be processed on the ESD website and you will receive an email with the download and activation instructions for your product(s). Returns are not allowed for any ESD after the license key has been delivered.

 

 

Azure Dev Tools for Teaching

Azure Dev Tools for Teaching (formerly Microsoft Imagine) is a Microsoft Program that supports technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning and teaching purposes including the most current Microsoft operating systems, server products (e.g, SQL Server), development software (e.g., Visual Studio, SDKs, DDKs), applications (e.g., Project, Access), and training tools (e.g., Azure).  

License Information: Azure Dev Tools for Teaching is available to use at no charge for educational purposes, and cannot be used for infrastructure or commercial development. For license questions contact itslicense@iastate.edu.

To download Azure Dev Tools for Teaching products: Go to Azure Dev Tools for Teaching and sign in using your ISU Net-ID and password. 

 

 

CyBox

CyBox is a place where you can store and share files for your own use, and share with others at ISU, or with collaborators anywhere in the world.

To create or access your CyBox account, go to https://iastate.box.com and log in with your Net-ID and password. Note: cookies must be enabled to log in.

OnTheHub

OnTheHub educationally-priced software available for students to download purchase includes: Windows 10 Education for Students and assorted additional software. Requires an active ISU email address.

  1. Go to iastate.onthehub.com.
  2. Log in with your ISU email and password.
  3. Add your desired software to the cart.
  4. Purchase software using a credit card. (when applicable)
  5. After purchase, you will be provided with a download link and product key. (when applicable)

NOTE: Save your product key somewhere safe. The website will only keep record of your product key for one month after purchase.
